Eraser Head

By Francis Robateau

screen-print on strathmore cotton paper, 24in x 48in, 2022

Belize was colonized by the British Monarch who were made wealthy by using slavery to export lumber and then exploitation of Mayan labor for farming sugar cane. Britian has a complex history of oppression of the Belizean people. Today, Queen Mary is still considered head of state with her image on Belizean currency. This work is a critic on the British Monarchy who is still present in post-colonial Belize.
